Speakers for Computer
Get your computer to the next level. Upgrade your speaker system to get the most out of your PC games or your
online music streaming.
Mostly every PC or Mac computers include a set of default factory speakers. Most of the time they are not very
good and doesn't give justice to your computer games or music. If you want to upgrade your speakers for computer,
there are a lot of alternatives that are available. System setups right now can give you (but not practical) 5.1,
6.1 or even 7.1 systems. There are also setups that are common and affordable 2.0 (2 stereo outputs) and 2.1
(stereo plus subwoofer) models. These speakers can be bought from $20.00 up to $300-$400 dollars for the high end
models.
2.0 speakers for computer - These are the entry level speakers that most of us
have in our homes. These are the basic adapter or USB powered with on/off and volume controls. Prices range for
less than $20.00 to $100.00 for the high end ones.
2.1 speakers - This is the step up with an addition of a self-powered sub-woofer.
This setup is ideal for basic gaming and music streaming. Prices start from $25.00 up to $200.00
4.1 speakers - Add a Left and Right rear satellite speakers and you have the 4.1
setup. This will start to give you a surround sound and good for playing DVDs and PC games. Prices start from
$75.00 to more that $200.00.
5.1 speakers - Step up your game playing or DVD viewing by installing this home
theater setup. 2 satellite speakers on the front, 2 for the rear, one center speaker and a subwoofer. Also to get
the most out of this systems, you will need to upgrade your soundcard to handle the 5.1 system.
7.1 speakers - Then there are this 7 speaker + sub-woofer setup that might be
over the top. These are good for home theater setup but overkill on a computer system. Soundcards need to be
changed to a 7.1 compatible system.
You also need to look at the capabilities of your computer and your soundcard and determine which system
will work most effectively without overdoing it. Most soundcards need to be upgraded when you pick 4.1, 5.1 and 7.1
speaker systems.
Also you need to take into consideration where your computer is located. Most bedrooms or office rooms are small
enough that a 2.1 speaker system is sufficient enough to give out fairly good sound.
